Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-23
This page explains, in plain terms, the cookies this website actually uses — there aren't many.
Essential cookies (always on)
These are required for the site to function and can't be switched off. We only use one:
- Admin session cookie (
wtm_admin_session) — keeps the site owner logged in to the booking admin area. It's only set if you log in at/admin; ordinary visitors never receive it.
Non-essential cookies (only with your consent)
The Crown to Constitution tour page includes an embedded Google Map showing the meeting point. Loading that map lets Google set its own cookies. We don't load it until you accept via the cookie banner (or the equivalent prompt on the map itself) — until then, you can still get directions via a plain link to Google Maps that doesn't set any cookie.
We also use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (a container Google Analytics runs through) to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they use. Like the map, neither loads, and no cookie is set, until you accept via the cookie banner. If you reject or ignore the banner, no analytics data is collected about your visit at all.
Payments
When you book a tour, checkout happens on Stripe's own hosted payment page (a separate site, stripe.com), not on walkingtoursmadrid.com. Stripe sets its own cookies there under its own privacy policy — see stripe.com/privacy. We don't receive or store your card details.
Managing your choice
You can change your mind at any time using the link in the site footer, which reopens the same accept/reject choice.
